How to Walk in the Fulfillment of your Prophetic Words

How To Walk in the Fulfillment of Prophetic Words

This is a question I get asked all the time. If you’ve ever been given a powerful prophetic word, you’ve probably asked yourself the same question. How do I see this word fulfilled in my life?

Now, this isn’t an easy question to answer. I wish I could give you my “five step guide” on how to see the fulfillment of every prophetic word you’ve ever been given. But the beauty of life with Jesus is that there is no formula, there’s just relationship. However, while I can’t speak for every experience, every prophetic word, or every person, I can give you some keys which I have found helpful to seeing God’s words in my life fulfilled.

I hope you find these keys helpful, and as you read, remember that they are to be worked out in partnership with Him.

Letting His Word Grow in Your Heart

In Matthew 13, Jesus shares a parable about seeds and soil. This parable can help us understand how to cultivate God’s promises and see them grow in our hearts. God wants to help you begin to encounter and experience the Word of God literally growing in your heart, so that there is fruit for you to eat.

A portion of this parable reads:

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.  - Mathew 13:19

Prophecy is not meant to fall onto the ground and be left there. There must be a cultivation, a growing, and a watering for fruitfulness to occur. It requires partnering with Heaven. To do this, we have to understand the power of the words issued, and plant it in our hearts. How do we do that? By coming into agreement with Him.

Coming into Agreement with Heaven

I come from a crazy Pentecostal-Charismatic church. We say amen all the time, maybe a little bit too much… But what does the word amen actually mean? In 2 Corinthians 1:20, Paul writes about this word, "All the promises of God are yes and amen." Amen actually means, “And so be it.”

When you come into agreement with the word of God and in your heart there’s an amen

The agreement is a word the Bible calls Symphonia, which means many different sounds coming into one pure sound. Not surprisingly, this is where we get the word symphony. Many sounds from different instruments make one incredible sound. And it’s beautiful.

When you agree, or say “amen”, it releases the sound of Heaven and the blessing of God in your life. Often, when I’m reading God’s word, I say, “Yes, Lord. And so be it.” It stirs something in my heart to agree with Heaven’s perspective about me.

I do the same when receiving prophetic words from others. If the word resonates with me, I come into agreement with it in my heart (and sometimes verbally). In these moments, Heaven and I make the same sound. It’s Symphonia.

Understanding Your Heavenly Citizenship

When a king issues a decree, it is final. There are kingdom decrees that have been spoken over you and I. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has determined in His heart to speak a better word over you than what your parents could have, what sin or the world can. He speaks a word of His kingdom, and when we understand and receive that decree, something will begin to grow in our hearts.

Many of us don’t understand that our citizenship, rulership, and our identity are not earthbound (Ephesians 2:6). Who we are in this world is not determined by the opinions of our friends, by our socioeconomic status, or by our past. It’s determined by the cross and resurrection of Jesus. He’s pulled us in Him, into His new kingdom. This decree affects our identity, our future, our destiny, our purpose, and our blessing in Him. And it’s all because we’ve received grace.

The word of the kingdom is not simply a nice little preach, it’s His very thoughts about who you are.

When a monarch issues a decree, we can recognize that something is about to change. It’s the same when we’re given a prophetic word. When we receive something of God’s purposes, when we receive the word of the kingdom, we can be sure that something is about to change in our lives.

Walking Out Your New Identity

I find it fascinating that God determines in His heart to set potential purpose, power, and greatness in something small, almost unseen. It’s the way of God and His kingdom. He takes that which seems small, and He puts it into the hearts of men to grow to become the most significant. The word of the kingdom speaks a whole new identity and possibility.

Today, we have the chance to join in the symphony of Heaven and say Amen over the thoughts, plans, and purposes of God over our lives. Would you dare say yes to His Lordship in every area?

What would change if you chose to believe Him?

t's no secret that the modern-day prophetic movement has not always reflected the heart of God. That's why I'm grateful for prophetic voices who are seeking to restore purity to the prophetic through good theology, and a practice that looks like Jesus. In this video, my friend Emma Stark shares some powerful revelations about how we can restore purity to the prophetic. We tackle some challenging, but important topics like politics (in the US and UK), what it means to be people of the kingdom, and what's missing from current prophetic words.
